Kak - Kak’s transfer to Real Madrid is almost a done deal. AC Milan are negotiating the Brazilian striker’s move with the Spanish club. The Rossoneri chair Adriano Galliani and Kak’s father flew to Spain to discuss the details with the new chairman of the Merengues, Florentino Perez. Even AC Milan’s owner, Silvio Berlusconi, refused to rule out the move. “He’s unlikely to stay with us”, said Mr Berlusconi at an election rally in Florence. That was how it was described by Stephane Lissner during his presentation of the 2009-2010 calendar, the fifth he has overseen as superintendent and artistic director. Inaugurating the season will be a new production of Bizet’s Carmen conducted by Daniel Barenboim and directed by Emma Dante (7 December with a preview for young people on 4 December). The calendar will also feature nineteen operas and ballets, including a new production of Wagner’s Ring directed by Belgium’s Guy Cassiers, as well as more than sixty concerts of symphonies, song and chamber music.

Silvio Berlusconi - Today or tomorrow, the dossier on an individual under investigation, Silvio Berlusconi, will be forwarded to the ministers’ tribunal. This formal step opens the inquiry into the misuse of government aircraft documented by photographs seized from the Sardinian reporter, Antonello Zappadu. Under examination is one flight in particular, on 24 May 2008, when the prime minister flew into Olbia on an Italian air force plane with, among others, the singer Mariano Apicella, his assistant and an attractive flamenco dancer. The inclusion of Mr Berlusconi’s name in the register of individuals under investigation for abuse of authority is, explain magistrates, a “mandatory act” to verify compliance with the law. Mr Berlusconi appeared relaxed: “I am happy to see the shabbiness of our opponents exposed yet again” because the inquiry into misuse of government aircraft “means nothing” and “will be promptly shelved”.

Barbara Montereale - Just before 5 am on Thursday morning, someone set fire to a car belonging to Barbara Montereale, the model who accompanied Patrizia D’Addario to Silvio Berlusconi’s Rome residence, Palazzo Grazioli. The incident is shrouded in mystery. Unknown arsonists are thought to have poured petrol onto Ms Montereale’s Honda Jazz and then ignited it. A few days ago, Ms Montereale, 23, was questioned by the Guardia di Finanza in connection with the Bari public prosecutor’s office’s inquiry into women who visited the prime minister’s residence in Rome. Investigators believe the fire was a warning. “I have no enemies. I don’t know who might be angry with me”, Ms Montereale told reporters.
